Snowpocalypse

Snow, snow, snow, snow. I’ve never been so tired of the word.
My small town of Winchester, VA suffered from over 3 feet of snow over the past week. Everything shutdown.
I am reminded importance of infrastructure.
I lived in Minnesota for 5 years, and have never seen so much panic from some simple snow. They have the infrastructure in place there. They can handle the snow. Winchester was totally unprepared for it. It’s amazing.

Thanks again for the link back! I appreciate it. I also agree…Winchester was unprepared for the snow…although I come from Baltimore where the panic was even worse.
It's snowverkill!
Okay, enough with the snow puns. You have to remember that Minnesota has experience with snow like this, whereas in Winchester this is a very rare occurrence. To be prepared for this all the time simply wouldn't be cost effective if it almost never happens. It would also require educating the public better on how to respond to the snow. Until we start getting more frequent blizzards, Winchester will always be unprepared for big storms.
TJ, of course. That's the point of my post: I've taken infrastructure for granted. The storm really shows how dependent we are on it.
